American Wildflower Prints

Background:

The Wildflower prints shown on this page are from a late 1800s folio that portrays flowers found in every state in America.  It was published to provide the public with "a better appreciation of the wondrous wealth of wild and native blooms on this continent".

Continuing from the introduction to the series: "It is to familiarize Americans with their incomparable wildflowers in detailed form and color that this work was designed.  Great stress was laid on the advisability of giving each flower just as it grows, just as it looks in nature."

Each print is provided with a copy of the accompanying text that provides background on the Wildflower, when it blooms and the region of America where the Wildflower can be found.
