These Orchis prints are from the First Edition of English Botany, illustrated by James Sowerby.  Sowerby was an English naturalist, artist, engraver and teacher.  He was also one of the original botanical illustrators for Curtis's Botanical Magazine.  The complete series featured over 3000 prints depicting plants native to the British Isles.
