Background:
These colorful prints are from seed catalogues distributed in the early 1900s by gardening
companies including Walter Schell, Hosea Waterer, Storrs and Harrison and Charles Hunt.
In addition to providing readers with
descriptions of the latest seasonal offerings for perennials, annuals, vegetables and
fruits, many catalogues featured advise on gardening (e.g. planting a new lawn") to
products to help with outdoor tasks such as the "Kant Klog Sprayer" and the
"Pennsylvania Golf Lawn Mower".
The catalogues helped to brighten many a
winter's day for the house-bound gardener, and hopefully will find a place in your home
almost a century later! |
