Background:
Visitor's to our Web site are very familiar with prints from Paxton's Magazine of Botany. On this
page we feature chromolithographic plates from Paxton's Flower Garden in which
Sir Joseph collaborated with Professor John Lindley. The focus of these prints is on
a variety of Orchids found in British gardens. The goal of the Flower Garden, as
presented in the Preface, is "To supply, in monthly parts, as full an account of all
the new and remarkable plants introduced into cultivation as is necessary to the
horticulturist."
