Background:
These colorful Golf caricatures are from a series illustrated by the British sports artist
Charles Crombie. Initially distributed in the early 1900s by Perrier, the French
sparkling water company, they are from a hard-to-find folio printed in England in the
mid-1960s.
The prints portray Edwardian golfers in various
predicaments and the associated "rule of golf". Additionally, a relevant
Shakespearean verse in English and French is presented below the illustration.
