Background:
The Wildflower prints shown here are based on watercolors painted by Frederick
Edward Hulme (1841-1909), an amateur botanist and former Art Master at
Marlborough College (England). Hulme came from a family of painters including his
father, Frederick William (landscapes) and maternal grandmother (porcelain).
Originally published in the late 1800s, the
series of Wildflower prints spanned nine volumes, with each volume
describing 40 wildflowers.
