Background:
This series of prints is actually menus from Cafe Royal on Regent Street in London dating
to 1931. The cover of the menus features scenes from Francis Wheatley's Cries of
London originally illustrated in 1796. The "Cries" depict London's
tradesmen in a day when they could sell their products on the street by using a musical
shout or rhyme to get the attention of prospective buyers.
