These unique Costume prints portray Oriental fashions -
in style and color - from Eastern cultures including India, China, Sudan, Turkey, the
Caucasus and other countries in this region. The Costumes include
both everyday garments as well as those worn on ceremonial or special occasions. The
prints show the clothing as if laid out on a flat service.
The prints are from the Berlin publishing house
of Ernst Wasmuth. Founded in 1872, Wasmuth was originally a bookstore that
advanced to become a leading publisher of art and architecture books.
