Background:

These colorful prints portray a variety of Wild Birds found in the English countryside and cities.  Each bird is presented in a natural setting and identifies the size of the actual specimen (e.g. "1/2 natural size").  As stated in the preface to this folio, the purpose is "To portray the many varieties of birds which visit, breed or live in England, to describe their haunts, habits, eggs and appearance, which may add for many a fresh charm to their brief experience of country life".
