Background:

These prints are from the First Edition of a guide to the layout of Parks and Gardens in and around Paris.  The illustrations are by Victor Petit (1820?-1874) who also produced a number of other fine illustrated books on architecture and architectural history.

The prints depict the layout of each Park or Garden including walkways, placement of flowerbeds, shrubs and trees, and topographical details.  The work also included information on constructing structures which would ornament the garden including pavilions, chalets, bridges and kiosks.
