Background:
These beautiful prints feature illustrations of flowers found in Japanese gardens, homes
and the countryside. The flowers are depicted in both scenery as well as floral
arrangements, and are tied to the seasons in which they occur.
Following is an extract from the introduction to
the series: "In Japan each season has many flowers. Our purpose is to
treat the special, popular flower(s) with reference to poems, Japanese folk-lore, through
which, it is hoped, the readers may see the spirit of Japan".
