These prints are from a report published by the
State of Pennsylvania in 1882 describing fish native to the States rivers, lakes and
streams. The illustrations are by Sherman F. Denton of Wellesley, Massachusetts, regarded
as one of premier North American fish artists. Denton later went on to do similar work for
the New York Commission of Fisheries and Game.
This collection of prints includes both
full-color chromolithographs, as well as black and white lithographs based on Denton's
sketches.
