Background:
In the mid-1800s Samuel Sloan (1815-1884), a Philadelphia architect, published the first
edition of his Model Architecture series. Intended as a reference for
architects and builders, the series portrayed a variety of designs including homes,
mansions, school houses, churches, etc. For each design plates were included
presenting illustrations, floor plans and architectural details. The architectural
drawings are by Sloan, and the lithography by P. S. Duvall. The Model Architect
is one of the most influential architecture books in America in the second half of the
1800s.
Please note: Our
scanner could not accommodate the full size of each plate. While some prints may
appear to be "cut off"in the scanned image, in reality the full print is
available and all are in excellent condition. |
